IN GOD

Sue O’Donnell. 08.08.20

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life...” (Psalm 23 v 6)

Lord Jesus, in Your suffering

Hanging in agony on the †,

You are offering us healing,

The true healing from our brokenness.

This has to be grace at work,

A free gift in no way merited,

But inviting us through holiness shared with us,

An eternal homeland in heaven.

“...I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalm 23 v 6)

You are our forever Saviour,

Lord, Lamb of God, the King of glory.

You, by Your Spirit of holiness,

Make our life into a story of redemption.

How marvellous, for You reveal to us

And this freely, the all loving mercy

Of our Father who accepts Your punishment,

That which of right, should be meted out on us.

“You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us.” (Psalm 44 v 7)

“In God we boast all day long and praise Your name forever.” (Psalm 44 v 7)

Lord Jesus, I praise You as my Saviour Brother, the Bread of Life, my faith’s Alpha and Omega, the Divine Healer. I know You as the One nearest to the Father heart of love, revealing God’s mercy.

I thank You for being our Redeemer, our Saviour and shepherding us beside the still waters of tranquillity, experienced as we pray, listen and learn.

I delight in You as my closest, highest Friend, a truly holy Brother, the Prince of Peace. “With gladness and rejoicing they (all who believe in Your salvation) shall enter the King’s palace.” (Psalm 45 v 15)

You make me feel happily contented, especially when I can share in Your most precious Body and Blood as happens in the Most Holy Eucharist, the blessing of grace heaped upon us.

I know You as our Father’s faithful Envoy, His Ambassador, His message of an eternal life offered all whom You redeem and re-establish in our Father’s friendship.

You are our worship, holy Lord, the Lord of lords and King of kings, the Ruler over heaven and earth. “You are faithful and I trust in You because You rescued me.” (Psalm 31 v 5 CEV)

How can I describe Your love, the reflection of our Father’s all forgiving, steadfast kindness, a faithfulness towards us as taught by the Holy Spirit?

I would say “Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths.” (Psalm 36 v 5, 6 NLT)

You are my rock upon which my faith is built. You are my fortress against enemy attack, my shelter like a high tower, my refuge point. I trust in You.

I trust in who You are, in all You do, in everything You offer us, especially when coming from the †where our sinfulness is put to death.

I depend upon You to raise me to new life, risen, ascended and glorified Lord, You sending Your Spirit to us to this end. He helps us to remain faithful to You.

“LORD God All Powerful,” the living, abiding Son of God, “You bless everyone who trusts You,” (Psalm 84 v 12 CEV) and trust leads to dependency.

“Each day that we live, You” together with our Father and the Holy Spirit, come in love’s unity, a most blessed community reaching out for us, “Providing for our needs.” (based on Psalm 103 v 5 CEV)

By the Spirit You mend our brokenness, You restore us to every grace and favour, You redeem and refresh us, You pray for us and through us as You live in us.

It is all because of Your † our Father of love and mercy “As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our sins from us.” (Psalm 103 v 12 GNT)

You are the gospel message of hope offered by love, of peace offered through mercy, of joy known by Your presence with us, in us, amongst us.

Thank You for being the Light of the world, the doorway to faith and the gateway to heaven. You are the Messiah inviting us into a heavenly kingdom.

When we are led by the Spirit, You enable us to become a child of God, saved by grace, through faith, not by works. The works we offer You in service, are the result of our salvation, not its cause.

You rescue us from the devil, prowling about to see which of us he can devour. You are the blessing of our Father’s rescue plan, a sure sign of His mercy. Lord Jesus, You are life to us.

When led by Your Spirit, our Father’s Spirit, co-equal in love’s power and authority, You make us to be a new creation, no more deserving of condemnation, for You have set us free.

A true freedom, a most glorious freedom, set at liberty from satan, oh how our life changes radically, always for the better as You are our Saviour, and bless us by consecrating us to Your cause of holiness.

You make us strong in faith, by Your mighty power calling down our Father’s mercy upon us, although we are totally undeserving. Grace rules through You and our life is richly replenished.

Lord Jesus, we enjoy the fullness of life You are to us, giving us a true meaning to live and die for, and an eternal purpose to look forwards to, to enhance our faith.

It is only through You we become God’s chosen people in addition to the Jews, the specified choice of our Father and the race You were born into as Saviour.

A worship song opens by stating a truth: “In Christ alone, our hope is found” (Source not known) going on to state how we stand “On solid ground”. This is a universal truth with regards to the Christian faith.

May we ever be strong in the Lord and His mighty power, living by faith, not sight, accessing readily all the wisdom and truth the Lord Jesus reveals to us and the Spirit applies to us personally.

The sacred Scriptures tell us that “Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do! And with your wisdom, develop common sense and good judgment.” (Proverbs 4 v 7 TLB)

May we strive after this learning by asking and allowing the Holy Spirit to devote us to the Lord Jesus as Master, Your living Word of truth, Lord God.

He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness, justified our position within the one holy family, made us co-heirs of Your favour, blessed with every spiritual blessing.

What more could we possibly need or want, the answer has to be nothing! We are claimed to be overcomers by the blood of the Lamb, partakers of the divine nature, true to our testimony of belief in Christ Jesus.

Called to “Be imitators of You, Lord God, as dear children and to walk in love as Christ also has loved us,” (based on Ephesians 1 v 5) this could be taken as a summary of our Christian calling to be in You,

dearest Father, to live for You and through You, as we have been healed.

Jesus as Saviour, He “Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes we are healed.” (based on 1 Peter 2 v 24)

All praise and thanks ever be that we are accordingly, being transformed by the renewing of our mind, and ongoing process of pilgrimage, whereby we are blessed.

“Blessed is the (wo)man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage... They go from strength to strength... The LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84 v 5, 7, 11)

Let Your glory ever be Your family living through Christ the King, who gives us strength as we pray and persevere in all godliness, needing and heeding the Holy Spirit.

For the outcome of seeking to live in You, Lord God, by means of the Saviour and the Sanctifier, we are made to be “More than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8 v 37)

This is no ordinary victory, but a triumph over all that is evil, a super abundant victory partaking of the life of love and sacrificial death of our all loving, perfectly holy Brother.

We have been made as the Holy Spirit reveals to us, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,” (Romans 8 v 16) in You, Lord God. This is who we are in Christ, a family with a most glorious inheritance, praise ever, ever be. Amen.
